Summer West Bourbon was founded to bring fresh energy to a category that felt stuck in the past.

While on a trip to Kentucky on the “Bourbon Trail”, I realized all of my favorite barrels were bourbons that had been barreled during the summer months.

After talking to multiple master distillers, I learned whiskey barreled during the heat of summer developed a lighter and sweeter flavor from the natural, heat-driven, expansion into the wood.

That discovery inspired our name and mission, to craft a bourbon that feels as vibrant and alive as the season it’s named after.
